Kabir Singh is a drama film written and directed by Sandeep Vanga. It is a remake of his own Telugu film Arjun Reddy released in 2017.
Kabir Singh stars Shahid Kapoor in a titular role. It is an official remake of 2017 blockbuster Telugu film Arjun Reddy which starred Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey in the lead roles.
Shahid plays an alcoholic doctor in the film. Kiara Advani plays his love interest. It is the first time Shahid and Kiara are paired together. The film is produced by Cine1 Studios and T-Series. The movie is directed by Sandeep Vanga who directed the original. The shooting began in October 2018 and ended in March 2019. The film is releasing on 21 June 2019 release

Storyline
It focuses on the title character (Kabir Singh), an alcoholic surgeon who goes on a self-destructive path after his ex-lover marries someone else.
Star Cast
After the success of the Telugu film Arjun Reddy (2017), Sandeep Vanga wanted to remake it in Hindi with Ranveer Singh in a lead role. Ranveer Rejected the movie and Sandeep confirmed Shahid Kapoor. However, producers Murad Khetani and Ashwin Varde, who acquired the remake rights for Hindi, wanted Arjun Kapoor to play the male lead.
In April 2018, Shahid Kapoor was confirmed. Bhushan and Krishan Kumar of T-Series came on the board to co-produce the film.
Tara Sutaria was the first choice for the female lead. However, she walked out due to a delay in her debut film ‘Student Of The Year 2’. The makers then hired Kiara Advani.

There is no official information available about the budget of the film. However, the estimated budget of Kabir Singh is around 50 crores. The original film Arjun Reddy was made in just 5 crores and it earned 51 crores worldwide. It was one of the biggest Telugu hits of 2017.
