Bus Falls Into Gorge In Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar

The bus was on its way from Keshwan to Kishtwar when the incident took place, news agency ANI reported. The accident took place around 7.50 am in Keshwan area of the hilly district.

At least 22 injured, and 33 died when a minibus rolled down and fell into a deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district this morning. The bus was on its way from Keshwan to Kishtwar when it skidded off the road and fell into the gorge at Sirgwari at around 7:30 am. 

M K Sinha the inspector general of police told PTI that the bodies of 20 passengers had been recovered so far and the rescue operation is still going on. The injured are being shifted to the hospital. 

Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah, the senior Jammu Kashmir politicians, condoled the deaths:-

Mehbooba Mufti tweeted, “Saddened to hear about the tragic accident in Kishtwar. Deepest condolences to families of the bereaved.”

There have been tragic accidents in the past as well in the hills of Doda, Kishtwar, Rajouri, and Poonch due to overloading, over speeding and bad roads.
