A forest employee was killed by a maneater tiger during routine patrolling in Karagarh Division of Corbett Tiger Reserve.
Forest Officer of Corbett Tiger Reserve under Lansdowne division Indresh Upadhyay said on Monday that Sohan Singh Gusain (23) along with other forest officials had gone on a patrolling in the deep forest this morning.
During their patrolling, a tiger attacked Sohan Singh near Tattapani and made him his prey. Forest officials managed to recover his half-eaten body from the dense forest after a 12-hour massive search operation.
Sohan was a resident of Sindhikhal and was working in a plain range of Lansdowne forest division. His body was recovered from a dense forest. The post-mortem has been conducted in the morning and the report will be out soon.
The fear of this maneater is rampant in this area. In another similar incident, a leopard attacked two brothers near a panchayat office in Haldwani. One of them, Dinesh Chandra, 47, is critically injured and has been admitted at Haldwani Medical College.
With two big cases of attack, the fear among the people is growing and they are afraid to venture out of their houses.
