Kargil Vijay Diwas 2019

As the nation celebrates the 20th anniversary of the martyrs in the Kargil War PM Modi shared the pictures of the time when he visited that area during the conflict interacting with the soldiers.

26th July 2019 marks the date when India celebrates its 20th anniversary of the victory of Indian armed forces against the infiltrating Pakistani troops.

Observed each year across the nation, the anniversary is a symbol of respect and gratitude to the Bravehearts of the Indian armed forces, who laid down their lives to capture all positions which had been seized by the Pakistan Army in the Kargil War, 1999.

The day is celebrated with heavy enthusiasm and homage is paid to the indomitable spirits by the military personnel at Dras Kargil Sector and Amar Jawan Jyoti, India Gate in the national capital, New Delhi.

The courage and bravery displayed by the mighty warriors date back to July 1999, when some of the fiercest battles in history were fought.

This was reflected in the glorious Operation Vijay, which observed mobilization from as many as 2 lakh Indian troops.

With India emerging victorious, all lost posts confiscated by the Pakistani Army were recaptured by the Indian soldiers.

To honour the sacrifice made by 527 martyrs among many others, the pious victory flame lighted by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh from National War Memorial in Delhi will traverse through some 11 towns and cities, finally reaching the Kargil War memorial.

Parts of India will be seen commemorating the 20th year of Kargil Diwas in different ways. The Army has said that the occasion this year will be themed ‘Remember, Rejoice, Renew.’

In 1999, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited Kargil to display solidarity with the courageous soldiers.

The supreme sacrifice made by soldiers and the grit and valour displayed by them is insurmountable. Since the resounding victory, Indian defence services have become a force to reckon with.
