An earthquake measuring 3.0 on the Richter scale hit Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand on Sunday, no damage or casualty reported.
Mild tremors were felt in the Yamuna valley region of Uttarkashi on Sunday. People of Badkot and Naugaon suddenly got panicked when at 3.42 P.M. they felt the shock waves of the earthquake. The intensity of this earthquake was measured 3.0 at the Richter scale.
District Disaster Management Officer Devendra Patwal said that the epicentre of this earthquake was Bayali in Backot Tehsil. So far no loss of life or property has been reported from anywhere in the region as the tremor was mild.
Nevertheless, the concerned departments and the public have been advised to remain alert keeping in view the tectonic movements causing frequent tremors in the region.
Prior to it, tremors were felt in Uttarkashi on 6th July at 9 P.M. and the intensity of this quake was measured 3.1 at the Richter scale. The epicentre of that earthquake was 5 kilometres away from Uttarkashi.
