Rajinikanth views about CAA protest irk mixed response: Twitter trends #ShameOnYouSanghiRajini & #IStandWithRajinikanth emerge

Thailaivar Rajinikanth’s Tamil tweet about CAA protests gets a mixed response. The Netizens split into two groups making #ShameOnYouSanghiRajini & #IStandWithRajinikanth trend in India.
The Citizenship Amendment Act has caused an uprising of protests in the country which is spreading by the minute. With local citizens and celebrities taking the streets and social media, it has become a matter of grave concern. After Bollywood celebrities like Farhan Akhtar, Siddharth Malhotra, Priyanka Chopra, Kangana Ranaut and many others; it was South-India superstar Thalaivar Rajinikanth who expressed his views on CAA protest on Twitter.
In a tweet encrypted in the Tamil language, he said that “Violence should not be the solution for the problems and that citizens must stand united”. This tweet came following the violent attacks in Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka a day ago. According to reports, two innocents were killed in Mangalore during CAA protests. Violence at protest sites has become a growing concern.

While the statement holds true for most cases, the Twitterati were largely disappointed by the icon’s ‘neutral’ remarks on the going national tension. While most agreed to his viewpoint of encouraging peaceful protests, some expected more opinionated viewpoint from the megastar who is likely to join politics in the near future. The fans set Twitter ablaze with trends like #ShameOnYouSanghiRajini & #IStandWithRajinikanth.

The fans were agitated to a level that they addressed him as a psychopath, spineless man, RSS leader and a failed politician. They are even calling out Rajinikanth for slyly supporting the CAA in Tamil Nadu as he is the face of BJP in the state. The fans have promised to boycott Rajinikanth’s upcoming film ‘Darbar’ too.
The superstar’s fandom knows no bounds so his true fans came out in support of Thalaiva calling him a man of his words, peace lover and someone who is always driven towards the welfare of the society.

Honestly @rajinikanth is probably the only person on this planet who gets hate for saying “violence is not a solution”. This only shows the real motives of the people that criticize him. He’s right and people fear. #IStandWithRajinikanth

Not just Rajinikanth but most other celebrities have received flak on sharing their views of the graving CAA protest matters. On the work front, Rajinikanth will next be seen in Thalaivar 168. The film is being directed by Siruthai Siva. It also stars Keerthy Suresh in a pivotal role alongside Thalaiva.
