Senior Congress leader and the former chief minister of Delhi Sheila Dikshit passed away on Saturday. Sheila Dikshit was one of the longest-serving chief ministers of Congress, and she was the chief minister of Delhi for 15 years.

On Saturday morning, she was admitted to Fortis Escorts Heart Institute Dehli in a critical state due to a cardiac issue.
In a statement released by the Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, Sheila Dikshit was in a critical condition and had a cardiac arrest when she was bought to the hospital.

The chairman of Fortis Escorts Heart Institute along with his team of multi-disciplinary doctors carried out advanced resuscitative measures after this her condition did stabilize temporarily, but she ended up having another cardiac arrest despite all the efforts and passed away at 3:55 pm.
Last year the 80-year-old Congress leader had undergone heart surgery in France, at the University Hospital in Lille, France, under the care of Dr. Thomas Modine after Dr. Seth advice.
From the past few years, Sheila Dikshit under the supervision of Dr. Seth was undergoing treatment at Fortis Escorts Hospital. In November 2012 she had undergone angioplasty and was also treated for an infection sometimes ago.
She has played a decisive role during her term as a chief minister in Delhi. For three consecutive terms, she has managed to defeat Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), but in December 2013 she lost to Aam Aadmi Party
