The selection committee of team India led by MSK Prasad has announced the squad for the West Indies tour. Whether it’s a shot in the dark or a thoughtful selection, this will be only evident once the team actually shows their powerplay.
BCCI selection panel lead by MSK Prasad, on Sunday, announced the three Indian squads, for the upcoming tour of the West Indies which starts from August 3 in Florida.
Initially, it was reported that Virat is rested for the limited-overs series, but now Virat Kohli is going to lead the team in all the three formats in West Indies.
Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Panya have been rested from the series. Rohit Sharma has been bought back in the test series squad. Rishabh Pant along with Kohli and Rohit is a part of the ODI, T20I and Test squads.
After a gap of more than a year, Wriddhiman Saha will join the test team. As the former captain MS Dhoni has made himself unavailable for the next two months he will not be participating in the series.
During the period of two months Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who holds an honorary post of Lieutenant Colonel in the Parachute Regiment of the Territorial Army, will be with his regiment.
When asked about Dhoni, MSK Prasad said, “He (MS Dhoni) has expressed his unavailability for the West Indies tour but we have a road map for coming days and future of India cricket.”
Even before the Cricket World Cup 2019, he made this commitment. Even though, Jasprit has been rested for the limited-overs series against the Windies, alongside Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ishant Sharma he has been named in the Test squad.
As spinners for the test series the selection board has picked Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Kuldeep Yadav.
