India clinched the four-match Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia 2-1 after the fourth test ended in a draw on Monday, March 13.

India, the winner of the Ind-Aus Test series, was awarded the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The men in blue won the BGT series for the fourth time in a row since the 2016-17 edition.

Both teams, Australia and India are in the first and the second spot on the World Test Championship (WTC) points table, respectively. After Australia’s win in the 3rd test against India, the Aussies became the first finalists of WTC Final 2023.

On the other, India secured their spot in the final after New Zealand defeated Sri Lanka in a thrilling last-ball win match on March 13.

Had Sri Lanka swept New Zealand in their two-match series, and Australia denied India victory in the fourth Test in Ahmedabad, SL would have qualified for the WTC Final.

India has entered into the WTC final successively, with the previous one coming in the inaugural cycle in 2021. Last time India was defeated by NZ in the WTC final. The WTC-2023 final will be played in June after the Indian Premier League.
