The Indian Premier League, popularly known as the “IPL,” is the most popular men’s T20 franchise cricket league in the world. The annual cricket league comes as a festival for all the cricket lovers in India and around the world.
Founded in 2008 by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the league is usually held in the summer across India. The IPL 2023 will be the 16th edition of the league, and it is called the Tata IPL 2023 for sponsorship reasons.
IPL Mini Auction 2023 Venue
The venue for the Indian Premiere League 2023 mini auction has been decided. It will take place in Kochi, Kerala. The auction of TATA IPL 2022 was held in Bangalore on February 12 and 13. Total 204 players were sold and Rs. 5,51,70,00,000 was splurged amongst the ten franchises during the two day the TATA IPL Auction 2022.
Last year’s season of IPL was won by new franchise of the league, Gujarat Titans by defeating Rajasthan Royals.
IPL 2023 Mini Auction Date
Only a few months are left for the IPL 2023, and its mini auction is set to be held on December 23, 2022. A total of 991 players have already been signed up for the mini-auction, which includes 714 Indians and 277 overseas players.
The deadline for the registration of IPL players was November 30, 2022. All 10 franchises disclosed the list of the players they had kept and released on November 15.
These franchises had already retained 10 to 16 players from the previous season. There are a total of 163 players with their respective franchises, whereas 85 were released from their present teams.

IPL Auction 2023 Rules
- None of the 10 franchises is allowed to spend more money on a player than they have available.
- The money spent on each team must be at least 75% of its total budget.
- Franchisees won’t have access to the Right to Match (RTM) card option.
- Each team should have at least 18 and not more than 25 players.
- There can be a minimum of 17 and a maximum of 25 Indian players per franchise.
- There is no upper limit for the number of overseas players each team can have on their roster, with the maximum being 8 players.
