Kane Williamson, the captain of New Zealand, was awarded Man of the tournament in ICC World Cup 2019 after England edged the Kiwi in the final at The Lords.

Kane Williamson who is reckoned as one of the best players in the modern day cricket was declared player of the tournament in ICC World Cup 2019 which concluded at Lord’s in London on Sunday.

Though his massive score and extraordinary performance couldn’t save New Zealand from encountering defeat in the final match, his splendid game in the World Cup, 2019 made him a champion in defeat and his fans are going head over heels on his achievement.

He showed his splendid game from the start till the end of this quadrennial event and won the hearts of his fans through his exemplary game. Williamson scored 578 runs in 9 matches accompanied by superb captaincy which helped New Zealand reach the final.

New Zealand showed great zeal to reach the final for the second consecutive time but was unable to win the maiden crown at the Lord’s stadium.

New Zealand elected to bat first and put up the score of 241/8 in 50 overs. England, however, reached the target through the mind-blowing performance of Joss Buttler (59 runs) and Stokes (84 off 98 balls). This pair added 110 runs to tie the game which was followed by an ultimate Super over.

In the Super over, Buttler and Stokes scored 15 for England. New Zealand also scored 15 but England won their first ODI World Cup title by hitting more boundaries than their opponent NZ.

Post-match, Kane Williamson admitted that World Cup final defeat against England was “hard to swallow”.
“What did they win it on, boundaries? While the emotions are raw it’s pretty hard to swallow when two teams work so hard to get to this moment in time,” he said.
