The Indian Premier League (IPL 16) has finally come to an end and Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings emerged as the winner of the season. CSK won the IPL trophy for the 5th time defeating Gujarat Titans by 5 wicket in the Final’s at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on May 29.
Originally scheduled to be held on May 28, on the same venue, the IPL 2023 Final was delayed by a day due to rain. The Gujarat Titans score a big score of 214 runs in 20 overs while batting first with the help of young player Sai Sudharsan’s 96 off 47 balls.
However, rain interrupted the match again and the target and the revised target of 171 runs in 15 overs was set for CSK. The nail bitting match came to end with Jadeja’s a six and a four in last two balls. With this win CSK has joined Mumbai Indians to become the most IPL season winning team in the IPL history.
The IPL 2023 2023 auctions were held in December 2022 in Kochi, Kerala, and the bidding game witnessed some new records being made in the history of the world’s most popular men’s T-20 franchise league.
On one side, the season gets memorable for the highest paid amount; on the other, some international stars went shockingly unsold in IPL 2023. Here’s the list of the most expensive players in the history of IPL:
1- Sam Curran (2023)
The English all-rounder has created history as he gets the highest bid in the history of the Indian Premier League. Curran was bought by the Punjab Kings for Rs. 18.5 crore, and with this, he becomes the youngest and most expensive player in the history of the IPL. It will be interesting to see whether anybody can break Curran’s record in the future.
Although Sam Curran was the highest-paid player, his performance during the season was not up to par. His performance disappointed the Punjab Kings, and during the whole season, he was not able to deliver even a single performance that was up to par.
2- Cameron Green (2023)
Another young talent, 23-year-old Cameron Green, joins the list of the most expensive players of all time in IPL history. The Aussie all-rounder was picked by the Mumbai Indians in 2023. Cameron Green was sold to the Mumbai Indians for Rs. 17.50 crore and became the second-most expensive foreign player in the history of the IPL’s most expensive players.

Ben Stokes was sold to the Chennai Super Kings for Rs. 16.25 crore and became the third most expensive foreign player in IPL history. Ben Stokes was already the most expensive player in the IPL in 2017 and 2018, with 14.5 crores and 12.5 crores, respectively.
4- Nicholas Pooran (2023)
West Indies batter Nicholas Pooran also joins the list of IPL Mini Auction 2023 Expensive Players, including Sam, Ben Stokes, Cameron Green, Harry Brook, and Mayank Agarwal.

India’s Sixer King Yuvraj Sing was the first player to touch such a massive amount of Rs 14 crore in 2014 and Rs 16 crore in 2015. The Delhi Daredevils picked him at that time, but it was bad luck that he failed to deliver.
India’s star cricketers like Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant, and Ishan Kishan are other expensive players this season, but foreign young players impressed buyers more.
