Pakistan’s veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik has announced his retirement from ODI cricket. Shoaib was the member of Pakistan team in the ICC World Cup 2019.

Shoaib Malik, the veteran Pakistani all-rounder announced his retirement from ODI cricket which has broken the heart of millions of his fans who wanted to see his power game in the upcoming ODI matches.

He made this announcement on Friday after Pakistan ended their campaign in ICC World Cup 2019 at the Lord’s stadium in London.

Pakistan didn’t manage to make it for the semi-finals even after beating Bangladesh in the final league by 94 runs. Just after the end of this game, Malik announced his retirement.

Sharing this news on social media, he said that he is thankful to all the players with whom he has played. He extended his thanks towards the coaches who have trained him, and he also thanked the media, sponsors friends and family members.

In the tweet, he wrote that he loves all his fans from the bottom of his heart. He also said that the retirement will give him more time to spend with his family and will allow him to focus more on the T20 format.

He also shared a video on his official twitter handle where Pakistani players were seen giving him the guard of honour.

The 37-year-old all-rounder of Pakistan played his last ODI in Manchester against India. In this game, Pakistan lost the game by 89 runs.

Shoaib Malik has played 287 ODIs and has made a total of 7534 runs in the short format of the game. He was the last remaining active ODI players to make his debut in the 20th century.

He was not the part of playing XI in the last few matches. The 37-year-old star player will continue playing in T20 and is also aiming to feature in World T20 next year.
