In the year 2016, Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) formed the Tamil Nadu Premier League. TNPL is a men’s T20 cricket league that is held every year in the state of Tamil Nadu and eight city-based franchise teams participate in this tournament.

The 7th edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) which started on June 12, 2023. A total of 28 league games were played across four cities in Tamil Nadu—Coimbatore, Dindigul, Salem, and Tirunelveli—between June 12 and July 12, 2023.

Lyca Kovai Kings became the winner of TNPL 2023. LKK was the first team to qualify for the finals, followed by Nellai Royal Kings. The Lyca Kovai Kings performed consitently well during the season and won the final against Nellai Royal Kings by 104 runs.

There are 28 league-stage games and four playoff games in which teams from all throughout the state compete. In a round-robin style, each team faces the other once during the league stages.
