The ICC World Cup 2023 final match is a step away. Today, November 17, Australia and South Africa are playing the second semi-final at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. However, due to anticipated rainfall in Kolkata, the match might be affected. Nothing can be said until the last moment.
Yesterday, the first semi-final match between India and New Zealand was played on Wednesday, November 15, 2023. India has reached the finals of the World Cup 2023, defeating New Zealand by 70 runs.
The final of the ICC World Cup 2023 will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at 2 p.m. in Narendra Modi Stadium, in Ahmedabad. It will be very interesting to watch who will face India in the finals and who will win the World Cup in 2023.
What if the Australia vs South Africa semi-final is washed out?
The second semi-final between Australia and South Africa is being held in Kolkata. But the weather department has forecast that there are chances of rainfall for the next three days in West Bengal. The clouds have covered the stadium and there are 45 percent chance of rainfall and thunderstorms.
There are high chance that the match will be postponed. However, there is also a reserve day for the completion of the semi-finals. The match started at 2 p.m. but if the match is hindered by the rainfall then the match will continue from where it left.
According to the ICC rules, if the semi-finals are washed out on match day and on reserve day as well, then the team with the most points in the point table will play the finals. So if on the reserve day, i.e., November 17, 2023, a match couldn’t happen, then South Africa will be playing the finals as they have led the points table at number two.
On the other hand, Australian bowlers are doing a brilliant job. Even the target of 200 is still a challenge for South Africa. One man, David Miller’s show, can add some runs, and then bowlers will try to stop the Aussies from achieving the target. SA won the toss and chose bat first but failed to score a respectful target, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchel Stark took ruined their top order.
