Indian Tennis Star Sania Mirza and former Pakistan cricket team captain Shoaib Malik’s names are among the most admirable couples in the sports world, and they have inspired everyone with their cross-border love.

The couple got married in April 2010 in a star-studded ceremony and were blessed with a baby boy, Izhaan Mirza Malik, in October 2018. They’ve been married for 12 years, but it appears the couple is going through a rough patch, with divorce rumours circulating all over the social media.

It is also being said that both have been living separately for a while. Also, Sania’s recent Instagram post and story have made it clear that something very serious is brewing between the two.

Some media sources are claiming that the reason behind their troubled marriage is Shoaib’s infidelity, as he cheated on Sania on one of the TV shows. However, neither of them has given any statement regarding this issue so far.

About Ayesha Siddiqui

It is not the first time Shoaib has been accused of cheating; in 2010, just before announcing his marriage to Sania, a woman claimed to be the one Shoaib had been married to.

In 2010, the moment the news of their weeding hit the headlines, an array of controversies followed. Out of the bunch of controversies, a 29- year old woman named Maha Siddiqui, a.k.a. Ayesha Siddhqui, from Hyderabad, who was a teacher by profession, claimed that Shoaib had already married and left her, and it came as a shock to everyone.

About the Controversy

The controversy was all over the media as Ayesha had filed a police complaint against Shoaib for cheating on her. Ayesha, who claimed to marry him in 2002, also circulated copies of her “nikahanama” to Pakistani and Indian TV channels, where she spoke about her alleged relationship.

She said that all she wants is a divorce from Shoaib and that he couldn’t marry another woman before divorcing his first wife. She also received Rs. 15 crore in alimony from Shoaib.

After weeks of denial, Shoaib finally accepted that he got married to Ayesha and divorced her on April 7, 2010, a few days before their marriage. The decision of their divorce was taken after days of negotiations between the two sides as well as with the help of around 10 to 15 mediators.
