Former Spanish football federation chief Luis Rubiales has been banned from the sport for three years for misconduct by FIFA. Rubiales forcibly kissed player Jenni Hermoso on the lips at the trophy ceremony at the Women’s World Cup final.
During the medal ceremony in August 2023, Rubiales kissed Jennifer Hermoso, the midfield player for Spain, following Spain’s victory in the Women’s World Cup. Hermoso later said that kiss was not consenual.
He allegedly put his arm around her in the locker room and stated, “There, we will celebrate the wedding of Jenni and Luis Rubiales” in Ibiza. He left his position as president of the Federation and vice president of UEFA on September 10.
