In a tragic incident in Dehradun, a seven-year-old girl going with her mother on a scooty was run over by a speeding truck while her mother got seriously injured. This accident took place at around 2.00 P.M. on Sunday near Mohakampur flyover under Nehru Colony police station in the city.
The accident took place when the lady was coming home from Laxman Sindh temple after having a “DARSHAN” there on a scooty. Her seven-year-old daughter was sitting behind her on the vehicle.
In the meanwhile, a speeding truck en route to Jogiwala from Mohakampur flyover side hit the scooty from behind. As they fell on the ground, a big traffic jam followed in the area. On receiving the information, Nehru Colony police rushed to the spot and the injured mother-daughter duo were immediately taken to nearby Kailash Hospital. There, the child succumbed to her injuries during the treatment while her mother is reported to be critical. The kins of the victims were informed.
This is apparently a case of rash driving and the police have taken the truck into custody. Police said that the said truck was being used for a Langar service. An investigation has been started into the cause of the accident.
The deceased girl child has been identified as Priyanshi Khulbe and her mother as Reeta Khulbe, wife of Basant Khulbe. They are said to be residents of Gorakhpur Chowk in Defence Colony.
