Dehradun police busted a chain snatchers’ gang involved in snatching and loot in the city. Cracking four recent incidents of chain snatching in the city, Nehru Colony police arrested two members of infamous Bawaria Gang on Saturday.
At least four chains and the vehicle used in carrying out those incidents have been recovered from them. Police managed to trace the gangsters through the motorbike number seen in the CCTV footage and putting their mobile number on surveillance.
This is to be noted that in between 13 June and 25th July, four incidents of chain snatching had taken place in Nehru Colony, Patel Nagar and Doiwala. This had caused embarrassment to Dehradun police.
The last incident did take place on 24th July in Athoorwala in Doiwala from where police got CCTV footage, the bike number and the surveillance details received from different police stations.
The CO of Dalanwala Jaya Balooni said that the modus Operandi of all the four incidents was the same. This gave the idea that a particular gang was behind all these incidents of chain snatching.
After that, a team was constituted to nab the culprits and the SHO of Nehru Colony police station Dilwar Singh Negi headed it.
During electronic surveillance, the location of the gangsters was traced to Zhinzhana in Shamli. From there Phool Singh alias Phullu (28) and Gulshan (25) were arrested during a raid.
Police said that both the accused are members of notorious Bawaria Gang. Dilawar Singh said that after doing incidents of chain snatching, the accused used to flee to Haridwar from there they would proceed to Shamli the next day.
Both were produced in the court on Saturday from where they were sent to jail. Both are residents of Uttar Pradesh. Phullu is a resident of Khanpur Jatan while Gulshan is a resident of Mastgarh under Zhinzhana police station of Shamli.
Police said that Phool Singh is the kingpin of this gang and he has at least 12 cases registered against him in Uttarakhand and UP. He was sent to jail in 2014 also in a case of dacoity.
