Life can be unpredictable sometimes. A lovely couple from Iraq was about to begin a new life together, but their special day turned into a terrible nightmare. A video from their wedding night is spreading all over social media, and it’s because the fireworks at their wedding went wrong.
The incident took place in al-Haitham Hall, a sizable event space outside the northern town of Qaraqosh. The major hub of the al-Hamdaniya district, also known as Bakhdida, is located around 15 kilometers to the southeast of Mosul.
How does the Accident happened?
One of the explosions struck the roof as the couple was dancing, causing the tragedy. Civil defense officials claim that the pyrotechnics that were let off while the bride and groom were dancing started the fire. The fire, which is forbidden in Iraq, was stoked by highly combustible metal and plastic composite panels that covered the hall.
On Wednesday, the security personnel detained three people at the fireworks display, the venue’s owner, and ten members of the venue’s employees. Both the bride and the groom survived the horrifying catastrophe, but their wedding day ended up being their worst nightmare.
Iraq Wedding Fire Death Toll
Although the death toll has been reported as high as 119, a government investigative committee revealed on Sunday that 107 people have died. In addition to other family members and acquaintances, the bride and groom both lost the members of their immediate families.
The bride reportedly lost every member of her family, including her three brothers, all of her uncles, and her young cousins. The bridegroom, on the other hand, lost his mother.
At a cemetery in Qaraqosh, also known as al-Hamdaniya and Bakhdida, hundreds of mourners held a funeral for more than 40 of the fatalities in the afternoon. Portraits of their departed loved ones were carried by some.
