As per the information available, the Iranian regime has arrested her 13 times, convicted her five times, and sentenced her to a total of 31 years in prison and 154 lashes. Mohammadi is still in prison. Narges Mohammadi’s most recent detention got underway when she attended a memorial for Mahasa Amini.
Mahasa Amini was a 22-year-old Iranian girl who was killed by Iran’s morality police for not wearing her hijab as per their rules. Her death was a huge political outrage against the Iranian regime.
About Narges Mohammadi

Narges Mohammadi was born on 21 April 1972 in Zanjan, Iran. She is a Physics graduate and has attended Imam Khomeini International University, Iran.
Narges actively started volunteering regarding Women’s rights and equality, while she was in college. After getting graduated she worked as an engineer but simultaneously she wrote columns for various reform-minded newspapers.
It was the year 2003 when Mohammadi got involved with the Defenders of Human Rights Center in Tehran, an organization founded by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Shirin Ebadi. In 2009 she lost her engineering post following an arrest.
