The former Miss World contestant, Sherika De Armas, died at the age of 26. She represented Uruguay at the Miss World 2015 pageant. Sherika De Armas was only 18 years old when she started modeling, and she was among the youngest models who participated in the Miss World Pageant.
The Miss World 2015 Pageant was held in China, and Sherika represented her country effortlessly. However, she did not make it into the top 30 list.
In addition to modeling, Sherika De Armas ran her own beauty studio, Shey De Armas, where she sold skin care, hair, and makeup products. Some accounts state that she recently donated her time to the Perez Scremini Foundation, a charity that supports children with cancer.
Sherika De Armas Cause of Death?
The reason behind the death of the young model, Sherika De Armas, was reported in the New York Post as being that she was battling cervical cancer. The report also mentioned that she had gone to various radiotherapy treatments and chemotherapies in the last two years.
Cervical cancer is caused by the growth of cells that start in the cervix (the lower part of the uterus that connects to the genitals). According to the reports, several strains of the human papillomavirus (called HPV) play a role in causing most cervical cancers.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, cervical cancer happens most often in people older than 30. The disease can be cured by the HPV vaccine and with regular screening, but Sherika couldn’t survive and lost her life to cancer.
Sherika’s Family & Friends remembered Her
The death of the young model, Sherika De Armas, has left everybody in shock, and her family and friends are mourning her death and paying tribute to her. They took to their social media platform and remembered her.
Her brother Mayk De Armas took to his social media and said, Fly high, little sister, always and forever. The current Miss Universe Uruguay, Carla Romero, also paid tribute to her, saying that she was to evolve for the world and adding that she was one of the most beautiful women she had ever met in her life.
The Miss Uruguay 2021 also paid tribute to Sherika. She said that she will always remember her, not only for the support she gave her and how much she wanted to see her grow, but also for her affection, Joy, the friendship they shared, and all of that she has remained with today.
