On December 21, 2022, the Supreme Court of Nepal ordered the release of the notorious bikini killer, Charles Sobhraj. One of the spokespersons for the Supreme Court of Nepal revealed that Charles filed a petition to get released from jail. Although the jail authorities of Nepal have claimed that the decision of the Supreme Court is vague.
Even after all this, the Supreme court of Nepal ordered the release of Sobhraj on the grounds of his age and deteriorating health conditions. Charles was charged with a number of murders throughout Asia in the 1970s.
Who is Charles Sobhraj?
Charles Sobhraj is a serial killer and a fraudster. Born on April 6, 1944, to an Indian merchant father and a Vietnamese mother in Saigon, which was under French occupation at the time, The parents of Charles were not married, so his father never really accepted him.
Later, his mother got married to a French lieutenant, and he moved to France with his mother. According to various reports, Charles never really adjusted to his new family, and he never forgot how his father abandoned him. Eventually, from a very young age, he started getting involved in minor offences and has also been to jail.

Between all of this, he had the opportunity to meet Chantal Compagnon, a young Persian woman from a traditional household. Sobhraj proposed Chantal for marriage, but he was arrested later the same day for attempting to evade police while driving a stolen vehicle.
Shobhraj was sentenced to eight months in prison, and after that, Sobhraj and Compagnon were married upon his release.
Early in the 1970s, Shobhraj and Chantal fled France to avoid being arrested. After concealing out in various places, they eventually made it to Asia.
After fabricating paperwork, Shobhraj eventually arrived in Mumbai, where his wife gave birth to a baby girl they named Usha.

When Charles Shobhraj Finally got Imprisoned?
He returned to France once his term in India was over. He eventually arrived in Nepal in 2003, where he was found guilty in 2004 of killing two American tourists.
The French assassin was caught in 2004 after being seen in a casino in Kathmandu and given a life sentence.
According to The Kathmandu Post, Sobhraj, who has been linked to more than 20 homicides, was sentenced to 21 years in prison in India for poisoning three French visitors and killing an Israeli national.
