Shahid Kapoor will soon be seen in a sports drama movie called ‘Jersey’, which is all set to release this year. It is a remake of a Telugu language sports film of the same name starring Nani.
It was made up of 25 crores and collected around 50 crores after its huge success at the box office, director Gowtam Tinnanuri announced the remake of the film, Shahid Kapoor might repeat the success story like Kabir Singh originally Arjun Reddy.
The storyline of the film is about a man in his mid30’s struggling to get an opportunity to play for the Indian Cricket Team. produced by Allu Aravind, Suryadevara Naga Vamsi, Aman Gill, and Dill Raju.

Earlier Telugu actress Rashmika Mandanna was cast for the movie later she was replaced by Mrunal Thakur for reason unknown. The film Stars

Jersey Release Date
Jersey production was wrapped up in Dec 2020 since then the makers are waiting to release the movie, earlier the movie was to release on 28 Aug 2020 but was delayed owing to the corona pandemic, after the news of theatres reopening from Oct 22 in Maharashtra state, the makers officially announced that the movie will release on 31 Dec 2021 last day of the year but omicron or new variant of this pandemic ruined the plan.
Later gets a new release date (14 April), clash with KGF Chapter 2 and Tamil movie Beast made think twice to its makers and postponed by one week:

The story of the film revolves around Shahid Kapoor as Arjun Talwar in the movie, who is a brilliant cricketer but quits playing cricket due to the politics in Ranji Cricket. He falls in love with a girl during Ranji days, and gets the govt. Job in reward for playing brilliant cricket at the tournament, but loses it after falsely getting accused of bribery.
Further his son asks him for an Indian Cricket team jersey on birthday, the movie takes the twist & tweak after it.

Jersey Budget
The shooting of the film started in Nov 2019 in Chandigarh and ended in Nov 2020. Reportedly the budget of the film is said to be around 30-35 crores, though there is no official confirmation from the team of Jersey on the production cost of the film.
There is another movie related to cricket that is going to be released this year Ranveer Singh Starrer ‘83 movie, which is the story related to India winning the world cup of ‘83.
