The 94th Academy Awards or Oscars 2022 is all set to be held on 27 March 2022, Sunday, at Dolby Theatres at Hollywood & Highland in Hollywood.
And in anticipation of the award ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), announced the nominations in the different categories for the 94th Oscars. The nominations were announced live on the official website and social media platforms on Tuesday (Feb 8).
Out of three Indian movies that were on the list of 276 films eligible for the 94th Academy Awards, only the documentary film Writing with Fire made it to the final nomination list. The other two Indian films that couldn’t do so are Suriya starrer Jai Bhim and Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham starring Mohanlal.
Writing with Fire which explores the journey of Indian Newspaper Khabar Lahariya, the only news agency that is run by Dalit women in the country, marks the first Indian film that is nominated in the category of Best Documentary Feature.
It tells the agency’s journey from print to the digital medium, Directed, financed, and Edited by Sushmit Ghosh and Rintu Thomas, Sushmit also cinematographed the film with Karan Thapliyal.
Where & When to Watch in India
The Oscars 2022 will be honoring movies released in 2021. The nominations were announced by the Hollywood actors Tracee Ellis Ross and Leslie Jordan on 8 Feb 2022, Tuesday.
You can watch the 94th Academy Awards or Oscars at 6:30 am on 27 March 2022 on the television channel Star World and Star Movies. Three big stars will grace the show as host, comedians Amy Schumer, Regina Hall, and Wanda Sykes.
Benedict Cumberbatch starrer Netflix film The Power of The Dog got most no. of nominations (12) followed by sci-fi film Denis Villeneuve’s Dune starring Timothee Chalamet (10). The 94th Academy Awards will take place on 27 March Monday early morning at Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles, California, U.S.
