The duo Anubhav Sinha-Ayushmann Khurrana are back again on the big screens with their political-social film Anek, which tells the story of an undercover cop Joshua (Khurrana) who is on a mission to settle peace in northeast India.
Anek is based on the political conflicts of northeast India as the makers described in the trailer, Anubhav Sinha directed as well as screenplay-wrote the film with Sima Agarwal and Yash Keshwani.
Reviews
It got mixed to positive reviews from the critics mostly mixed from the critics, the praised the theme of the film but bashed the story calling it confusing, Hindustan Times critic Monika Rawal said, “It couldn’t create an immersive experience that gets you thinking once you leave the theatres”, she also added that the film didn’t live up to the expectations as Sinha’s earlier outings Thappad, Mulk, and Article 15.
Bookings & Screen Counts
Along with the Critics, the Audience and Exhibitors seem also not interesting in the film, as the film managed to accumulate Rs 1.47 Cr from the advance collections till Thursday evening.
Anek released in India on only 1200 screens and overseas on 600 screens for a worldwide total screens of 1800.
It is also reported that the exhibitors are giving more favor to Bhool Bhuliayaa2 than any other movie across India, thereby it is getting fewer screens and shows.
Box Office Collection
As per the recent reports, Anek collected much lower than expected, it accumulates around Rs 2 Cr on an opening day. It is Ayushmann’s lowest opening after 2017, Meri Pyari Bindu (Rs 1.75 Cr).

It seems the audience is enjoying the BB2 more than anybody else, the film in the first week saw a collection of over Rs 92 Cr and is all set to become the third Bollywood film to enter the Rs 100 Cr club after The Kashmir Files and Gangubai Kathiawadi, this year.
