As the covid situation is getting better in India, the government of many states allowed the theatres to run in full occupancy, including the major market Maharashtra which contributes around 35% of theatrical revenue that Bollywood films generate.
Though so far only 14 districts and cities are allowed to run with 100% occupancy in MHA, this increases the film business compared to the earlier 50% rule, two Bollywood movies are currently performing well at Box Office but Akki’s BP is losing path of success due to The Kashmir Files.
However, since the govt. came up with a full occupancy rule, the producers that did their best to fetch the time slot of Holi weekend since theatres reopened seems more than glad by the full occupancy rule, as it certainly gives the boost to their venture’s business.
One of these films that were released during Holi weekend is Sajid Nadiadwala’s action-comedy Bachchhan Paandey. The masala movie received mixed and mostly positive reviews as Seeti Maar in the theaters but The Kashmir Files which is running successfully in 4000 screens, wins over Bachchan Pandey.
Akshay Kumar whose cop action film Sooryvanshi is the lone warrior of post-covid times in the Bollywood industry, generated a huge Rs 196 cr (Nett) at the Indian box office, struggling at this time.
Bachchan Pandey opens with Rs 13.25 Cr was a good opening number as half-day shows on Holi, but the rest two days of opening weekend were a disappointment, and now Monday Day is also estimated around 3-5 Crore means film heading toward Box Office failure.
Bachchhan Paandey Box Office Report
Bachchan Pandey Day 1: Rs 13.25 Cr
Bachchan Pandey Day 2: Rs 12.00 Cr
Bachchan Pandey Day 3: Rs 12.00 Cr (Rs 37.25 1st Weekend Collection )
Bachchan Pandey Day 4: Rs 3-5 Cr (Final Report is yet to come)
The hit Jodi of Akshay Kumar and the producer Sajid Nadiadwala gave many box office hits together like Hey Babby, Housefull film series, Dishoom, etc. Bachchhan Paandey marks the 10th film in which the duo shook hands.
Rajamouli’s RRR will be hitting the theatres on 25 march one week after Akki starrer release, which could give stiff competition to the film given the pan India films track records at the Hindi belt since Bahubali.
Thereby, Akki starrer has the chance to rule the single screens, it will certainly face competition with Vivek’s magnum opus The Kashmir Files at the multiplexes which is getting amazing response from the cinephiles.
