Akshay Kumar starrer action-comedy film Bachchan Pandey which releases in theatres during Holi with mixed reviews. Now it seems, the colors have rub-out from the maker’s face, as the film is not showing the expected footfalls at the ticket counters.
BP opened with a decent collection of Rs 13.25 crores, further, it saw a dip in the footfalls on the last two days of the weekend. On Saturday and Sunday, it amassed Rs 12 cr respectively.
The reason could be the surge in the screen counts of the blockbuster The Kashmir Files which is currently on a rampage mode at the box office. TKF has seen a surge in the screens from 2700 to 4000 screens of late.
This could be the reason for the downfall of Akki’s mass entertainer Bachchan Pandey, as earlier TKF was only ruling the multiplexes, but now following its massive success at the box office, the single screen theatres also started to showcase the film. And it is churning out the houseful shows from there as well.
Earlier Akshay starrer was expected to rule the single screens as it is a mass masala film and given the fact that another commercial mass entertainer Radhe Shyam didn’t fetch well collection at the BO. So, it had a decent chance to rule the single screens, but now Vivek’s TKF seems to put a stop to the BP BO collection.
Bachchan Pandey Box Office Collection
Bachchan Pandey had managed to gross Rs 52.5 Crores WW at the BO in its three-day opening weekend. Now, as per the reports, on the first weekday Monday, it raked in just Rs 4-5 Cr, and on Day 5(Tuesday) it again saw the drop in the footfalls garnering around Rs 3 to 4.5 crore.
On Day6, as per our early estimates, it would mint in the range of Rs 2.5 to 3 Cr, as it seems the Akki starrer is suffering an eclipse ’cause of The Kashmir Files storm. The film has netted around Rs 46 crores in its 6-day theatrical run, and now it seems that the lifetime of Rs 60 crores would be impossible. Hadn’t the TKF juggernaut exists, these would have BP’s opening weekend numbers.
BP earned Rs 7.9 Cr gross from the overseas market in its three-day opening weekend.
