One of the most anticipated and long-awaited Tamil film “Cobra” starring Chiyaan Vikram is gearing to hit the screens tomorrow, the advance bookings have been opened and going by the reports, the action thriller is all set to take a blockbuster opening at the box office.
It has created a good pre-release buzz with its teaser, posters, songs and trailer, the intriguing trailer of the film was recently dropped on social media platforms which is well-received by the viewers. Reportedly Chiyaan will sport 25 looks in the flick.

Advance Bookings
Cobra is set to hit the theatres on Aug 31 in Tamil and Telugu. The limited advance book of the action thriller was opened on Sat and as per the trade reports, the film has sold tickets worth Rs 2.8 Cr+ in both languages. The report states that it has sold over 1.5L tickets worth Rs 2.6 Cr approx in the original version and 17,000+ tickets worth Rs 26 L in Telugu.
Screen Counts
The screen counts report will be updated by tomorrow, as per the recent buzz, it will likely be released in around 800 theatres in Tamil Nadu alone and will occupy 400-500 theatres in Telugu-speaking states. The worldwide theatre counts will be in the 4000-5000 range. However, the Telugu screen counts could be more as Liger has been rejected by the audience there and the latter’s shows are likely to be replaced by Chiyaan’s film as the actor is quite popular in the Telugu states.

Budget & Box Office Collection
Chiyaan Vikram led this film is made with a 90 crore budget, the actor is playing multi-character in the movie and reportedly the remuneration of the actor is around 22.5% of the budget. It is justified considering he puts his heart and soul into every role he essays. Coming to the BOC, it has created quite a buzz ahead of the release and the advances are also very good, it seems it will take a flying start at the box office. However, it is remained to be seen whether it will breach the record of Vijay’s “Beast” opening day in TN which was released in the same number of theatres, to become the all-time top day 1 grosser in the state. As per the early projection, Cobra will take a start of 15-20 crores in Tamil Nadu.
