Filmfare Awards South is one of the most prestigious awards given to honour both artistic and technical excellence of professionals in the South Indian film Industry, which includes Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada film Industries.
These awards are the South Indian segment of the annual Filmfare Awards, which honours the artistic and technical contributions in the Hindi film Industry. These are presented by the Filmfare magazine of The Times Group.
When the Filmfare Awards South Were Introduced?
Filmfare Awards South were introduced in 1954, around the films released in 1952-53 and Filmfare Awards. In 1964, the awards were extended in Tamil, Telugu, Bengali and Marathi, to honour the excellent work of professionals in the films released in 1963. The inclusion of Malayalam and Kannada Cinema in the awards came in 1967 and 1970, respectively.
Before 1976, the Award ceremony used to be held in Mumbai along with Hindi Awards. However, after that Southern region film awards were separated from Hindi and moved to Chennai. Kamal Hasan and Uday Kiran hold the record of being the youngest to win the Best Actor Award in Filmfare Awards South.
Just like the Filmfare Awards 2022, which was held on August 30, 2022 at the Jio Convention Centre, Mumbai, this year also marks the 67th addition of the Filmfare Awards, South and it will honour the films released in 2020-2021. The last (66th) Filmfare Awards South was held in December 2019 in Chennai.

Filmfare Awards South 2022 Date & Venue
The prestigious Filmfare Awards South ceremony was held in Chennai for the first time in 1972 and it was the first time when it was held outside Chennai. However, the event was again held in Bombay in 1973 and 1974.
Thereafter, since the 66th Filmfare Awards South, which was held in 1974, the ceremony started regularly in Chennai. However, this year’s Filmfare Awards South is special as it is the first time when the award ceremony will be held in Bangalore.
The official twitter account of Filmfare shared the date and venue in a post. The ceremony will be held on Oct 9, 2022, Sunday at the Bangalore International Exhibition centre, Nice Junction, Tumkur Road, Bangalore.

There is no official announcement regarding the host, guests, performances and other things of the 67th Filmfare Awards South ceremony so far. However, surely we are going to witness the presence of big names from the South Indian film industry in this giant event.
