Gangubai Kathiawadi is a long-awaited Bollywood film that has finally come in theaters now. The genre of the film is Crime Drama based on a biography.
The director of the film is Sanjay Leela Bhansali and the producers are Jayanti Lal Gada and Sanjay Leela Bhansali himself. It is based on a biopic drama genre book written by Hussain Zaidi ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’.
The film is made under the banner of Bhansali Productions, and Pen India Limited. Sudeep Chatterjee is the cinematographer or director of photography. Pen Marudhar Entertainment is the distributor of the movie. Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has given the music in the film along with Sanchit Balhara and Ankit Balhara.

Alia Bhatt’s much-awaited gangster biographical drama Gangubai Kathiawadi has been released after postponement several times, now in theaters from 25 Feb 2022.
Alia Bhatt’s much-talked-about movie Gangubai Kathiawadi got its release date in 2021. After the announcement of reopening the theatres from Oct 22, in Maharashtra State number of movies announced their release dates, there were 15-20 movies that announced their release date on the same day, which was a sort of a record in itself.
Initially, the movie was to release on 30th July 2021 but postponed owing to a surge in cases of covid-19 in India, finally, on 30th September 2021 Sanjay Leela Bhansali who helmed the film announced the official release date ‘6th January 2022’ but Alia’s another release RRR was scheduled on 7th Jan, so makers of this film decided to postponed again.
Situations again turned bad for cinema, so big movies started getting postponed but Gangubai gets its new release soon as COVID-19 cases start decreasing.

The trailer of the film was shared by the Pen studio in early Feb 2022, Alia Bhatt was the one and only face highlighted and seen as a powerful emerging face of the film.
The voiceover is used to introduce the character of Alia Bhatt and in the teaser, it’s shown that she is a lady who is fierce and powerful, and the trailer emerged more powerful.
Gangubai Kathiawadi Plot
The film is based on a book and the book is a biography by Hussaina Zaidi in which she has written about the life of a female gangster of Mumbai red light Area whose name is Ganga Harjivandas who is popularly known as Gangu Bai. The film explores the life of a young girl, whose husband sold her into prostitution, and further in the movie, she becomes the madam of the brothel.

Gangubai Kathiawadi Budget
The shooting of the film Gangubai started in December 2019 but was put on hold due to the rise in covid cases in India in March 2020, the film was 70% completed then, later the shooting resumed on 6th Oct 202e0, and was ready for post-production from 26 June 2021.
But still, because the theatres were closed the makers decided to wait for a few more months. The theatres are now open but still, films that got released in the last two months haven’t done that good collection on the Box office.
Reportedly the film is made up of a 45 to 50 crores budget, though there is no official announcement regarding the production cost of the movie from the makers. But reports and sources say that because of the big budget the film is waiting for a big release.
