The long-awaited highly anticipated Tollywood sports drama ‘Ghani’ after being pushed back from the original release date, many times finally graced the silver screens on April 8 (Friday).
Varun Tej’s starrer revolves around the boxing game, he is playing the titular character, Ghani’s father was a boxer too but then he was rounded up by the police for consuming drugs while playing a match. Later Ghani decided to become the world boxing champion and absolve his father’s name, all this by hiding from his mother to whom he had promised not to take up boxing.

After watching the early shows, many fans had taken to Twitter and shared their reviews, the film got mixed to negative reviews, mostly negative especially from the critics, who severely panned the film.
Ratings
Telugu 360 and Mirchi 9 gave the film 2.5 out of 5 stars, they bashed the poor direction, lack of writing, and predictable narration.

Ghani Box Office Collection
Talking about the opening day box office collection, the film is said to be made on an expected budget of around Rs 20 Cr, and following the less craze among the south movie lovers regarding the film also negative reviews from the critics, it garnered Rs 2.22 crores shares from the Telugu speaking states on day 1.
Tej starrer collected Rs 2.72 Cr nett at the box office worldwide on Friday. Overseas the film minted Rs 30 Lakhs shares and from Karnataka and the Rest Of India, it earned Rs 20 Lakhs collectively.
Further, only strong word of mouth can save the film from becoming a disaster, a gross figure of around Rs 30 Cr would be enough for the film to compensate for the production cost.
