Directed and written by Kiran Korrapati, the most awaited Telugu romantic sports-drama film ‘Ghani’ finally releases in cinemas. It is bankrolled by Sidhu Mudda along with Allu Bobby and holds the banners of Renaissance Pictures and Allu Bobby Company.
On the technical front, George C. Williams is serving as the director of photography, and editing is done by Marthand K. Venkatesh. The film has music and background score by popular South Indian film Industry S. Thaman.
Theatrical Release Date
The long-awaited film had its grand theatrical release on Friday, April 8, 2022, after being postponed many times. The film opened with negative reviews and low numbers at the box office, it managed to collect only around Rs 2.22 Cr share on the opening day from the Telugu-speaking states, making the opening weekend total Rs 6.40 Cr gross.
Ghani OTT Release Date
Ahead of the film’s release, the government of Telangana had given a concession on the ticket prices of the same. Earlier, the ticket prices were hiked for S.S. Rajamouli’s RRR, though it helped RRR, the small and medium budget films didn’t make benefit from this.
Hence, the State Govt. decided to reduce the ticket prices and the film releases with the ticket pricing varying from Rs. 200 (excluding GST) in multiplexes and Rs. 150 (excluding GST) on single screens.
Ever since Ghani graces the cinemas, the talk about its post-theatrical release has also been making headlines. As we know that the film has become a fiasco at the box office, reportedly makers are contemplating releasing the film on Telugu streaming platform Aha on 29 April 2022, however, the official announcement regarding this is yet awaited.
Ghani Star Cast
Actor Varun Tej, the son of Telugu actor-cum-producer Nagendra Babu, is the male lead of the film and he is playing the titular role as Abdul Ghani Usman aka Ghani in the film.
He went through a hard training session to transform his body and build his physique to be fit in the role he has played in the film. He was trained by former English professional boxer Tony Jeffries.
He previously worked in many commercially successful movies such as romantic comedies Fidaa (2017), Tholi Prema (2018), F2: Fun and Frustration (2019), and action comedy film Gaddalakonda Ganesh.
Actress Saiee Manjrekar is playing the female lead in the film as Maya. She is best known for her role as Khushi Chautala in Dabangg 3. Her next outing is the biographical drama Major, based on the life of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, a brave soldier of the Indian Army who got martyred in the 2008 Mumbai Attack.
The film also stars Bollywood superstar Suniel Shetty as Vikramaditya. He was last seen in Priyadarshan directorial epic war drama Marakkar: The Lion of Arabian Sea alongside megastar Mohan Lal.
The film features Naresh, Tanikella Bharani, Jagapathi Babu as Eswarnath, Upendra as Vijendra Sinha, Naveen Chandra as Aadi, Nadhiya as Madhuri. Actress Tamannaah Bhatia will also appear in the movie in an item number titled Kodthe.

Ghani Pre -Release Event
A grand pre-release event was organized by the makers of the film on April 2, on the occasion of Ugadi at RK Beach, Vizag, Andhra Pradesh. Megastar Allu Arjun graced the massive event as Chief Guest, and the crowd went mad, when he made the entry in his style.

The film is made on the budget of Rs. 35 Crore and it had made a great buzz through the posters and the trailer but failed to garner the expected footfalls at the box office. Now, the film is on the course to opt for a digital route, let’s see how the digital audience react to the sports drama film.
