The highly anticipated Telugu movie, “Godfather” has graced the cinemas worldwide, in Telugu and Hindi. The political action thriller is a remake of the 2019 Malayalam movie Lucifer.
The flick is riding on a budget of 90 crores and Chiranjeevi is said to have charged 50% of the budget as his salary. It is a surprising amount as the actor is struggling to taste box office success. His last box office success was Khaidi No. 150 which had come in 2017, he is now looking for a bounce back with Godfather.

Godfather Screen Counts
It has occupied over 1700 theatres worldwide out of which, 715 theatres in the two Telugu states, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, followed by 540 theatres Rest of India and 450+ theatres in the overseas market.
Godfather Break Even Target and Clash
Godfather will be facing a clash with Nagarjuna’s The Ghost, the actor is arriving at the screens after delivering the superhit film Bangarraju. However, it will be interesting to watch who emerges as the winner in this mega BO battle which features big stars of south Indian cinema.
Chiranjeevi starrer will have to recover around 92 crores shares at the box office to be considered as a successful venture at the box office. However, considering its pre-release business e.g satellite rights, digital rights and music rights, the flick will need to recover less than half of the distributor’s shares to become a profitable venture in terms of return on investment. FYI, the digital rights of Godfather have been sold at 57 crores to a leading OTT platform (Hindi+Telugu)

Box Office Collection Day 1
The advance bookings of Godfather are minimal as compared to Chiranjeevi’s last release Acharya, which had grossed over 15 crores through ticket sales on the first day. On the other, Godfather has managed to gross 6.5 crores+ only through ticket sales.
As per the early trade estimations, it opens with 20 crores gross (13 crore shares) at the box office in the Telugu states, excluding the hires.
