Directed and written by Chethan Kumar, late Kannada superstar Puneeth Rajkumar starrer action thriller film James has been gracing in Cinema halls since February 17, 2022.
Along with Kannada language, the Pan India film was also released in the dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam in 4000 screens.
The film received an amazing response from critics and the public. The emotions of the fans of the late actor was also attached with the movie as it was his posthumous appearance following his death on October 29, 2021 due to a heart attack.
James Star Cast
Actor Puneeth Rajkumar, who was popularly known as Appu among his fans, played the lead role as Santhosh Kumar aka James in the movie. He worked in many acclaimed movies like Appu, Abhi, Aakash, Raajakumara, Anjana Putra and many more.
The actress was awarded Karnataka Ratna after his death and was also posthumously awarded honorary doctorate from University of Mysore at 102th Convocation.
The film stars actress Priya Anand in the female lead role as Nisha Gayakwas opposite Puneeth and it marks the second collaboration between the lead stars after Santhosh Ananddram’s 2017 action drama film Raajakumara.
Actor Srikanth has played the role of Vijay Gayakwad while actress Anu Prabhakar played the role of his wife and many more great actors were cast in the film.
James Box Office Success
Produced by Kishore Pathikonda, the Pan India action thriller became a huge success at the Box Office and broke the record for the biggest opening day collection for any Kannada film grossing Rs. 28 Crore to Rs. 32 Crore on the first day.
The film became the fastest Kannada Film to gross Rs. 100 Crore at the box office by reaching the milestone in just 4 days of its release. It has grossed the whopping amount of Rs. 125 Crore at the BO against a total budget of Rs. 50 to 70 Crore.
James OTT Release Date
According to some media sources the film, which already had its theater release on March 17, 2021 will soon be streaming on OTT as its post-theatrical digital rights are acquired by SonyLIV.
The official OTT release date on the platform has been announced, have to wait for the second week of the month of April (14 April) in Kannada along with Hindi, Tamil, Telugu dubbed versions.

James Plot
The story of the film revolves around a character named Santhosh, played by Puneeth Rajkumar, a manager of J-Wings security agency, who is appointed by Vijay Gayakwad, the man who owns a drug cartel, as his bodyguard to protect his family.
What happens when Santhosh makes the entry in a world where he meets the power brokers and businessmen who are much active in crime syndicates, is what the whole story is all about.
