The sensational Kannada film Kantara is having a phenomenal run at the box office. It has been two weeks since its release and the film is still not in the mood of slowing down. In fact, it is getting more footfalls than Mani Ratnam’s PS-1 and Chiranjeevi’s Godfather in the national earnings.
This is the power of genuine word of mouth and great content, that a small film is outdoing magnum opuses at the box office. Makers, Hombale films have now planned to make the film grandeur by releasing in other languages in theatres.

Kantara saw yet another 1 crore coming in from the advance bookings, it recorded around 50,000 ticket sales for Day 14 from the advance ticket bookings. As per the trade estimation, it draws in another 4 crores on Thursday taking its total domestic collections to over 72 crores.

Kantara was opened to rave reviews from critics praising its brilliant screenplay, extraordinary performances, impactful background, phenomenal cinematography, and proper showcasing of the traditional native culture Buta Kola.
It opened on a decent note at the box office and with the word of mouth coming into the play in a few days the business of the flick boomed. As per the trade reports, it is estimated to have collected over 30 crores nett in its first week.
It is witnessing amazing occupancy rates across all the shows ever since its release, it has now completed its second week drawing in over 42 crores making the total nett collections of Kanara 72 crores, domestically.

Kantara Beats PS1 and Godfather
Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Telugu film Godfather was released in Hindi also and the multi-starrer Tamil film PS1 was released pan-India in multiple languages still Kantara- a solo language release is beating both the former movies in the daily earnings. Since Monday, Kantara is doing more business than the two said films in the daily national earnings.
Kantara is becoming a path-breaking film, it has recently achieved a significant feat as it received a record-breaking 99% rating with 72.3k reviews on the online ticket bookings website, BookMyShow, first time in its history. It has 9.6 ratings on IMDb as well making it one of the highest-rated Indian movies.
