Bollywood’s Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan is making his comeback on the big screens with “Laal Singh Chaddha” after almost four years. The actor was last featured in Thugs of Hindustan (2018) which had tanked at the box office.
His latest release looks like will meet the same fate, Laal Singh Chaddha had been making headlines for the past few weeks whether it is for promotional events or the controversy. The film was released in cinemas during the Raksha Bandhan festival and as per the reports, the opening numbers are below par.

For the unversed, it is a remake of the 1994 Hollywood film Forrest Gump starring Tom Hanks, “LSC” is directed by Advait Chandan. It has Kareena Kapoor Khan in the main lead opposite Aamir, debutante Naga Chaitanya and Mona Singh in the key roles. Superstar Shah Rukh Khan has a cameo appearance in the film.
Box Office Collection
The advances were not on par with the expectations, earlier it was said that it might witness a record-breaking advance and further become a top grosser at the box office this year. But seems like, the Aamir starrer met the same fate as Prithviraj and Shamshera at least on the first day as per the early reports.
It didn’t get the benefit of a holiday release and saw the day 1 collection of Rs 11.8 Cr on the first day, in its cash registers. Had it been the pre-pandemic days, we would have hoped for the opening of over Rs 20 Cr but the situation is different now.
The reports added that most of the business of the film came from metros, and the collections from mass belts are very poor. Makers failed to cash in on the opportunity of the holiday release, the opening numbers are below Bachchan Paandey and the other event film ’83.

Advance Bookings
The advance bookings report of the film was not as was expected from the flick, it opened well on Friday and maintains the momentum till Sunday but as it nears the release date it hasn’t been able to push as it should have. As per Bollywood Hungama, till Wednesday morning, LSC had managed to sell around 57,000tickets including 30,000 tickets in three national chains. The advances are around 50% lower than Kartik’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 which had sold 1.05 lakh tickets in the same properties, for the first day. The advances in Tamil and Telugu are minimal.
