Vishal’s cop drama ‘Laththi’ has been released in cinemas in Tamil and the dubbed versions in Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada on Thursday. The film is certified with UA by the censor board, recently with an approved runtime of 2hr 24min or 144mins.
Laththi marks the debut directorial venture of the director A. Vinoth Kumar. The film features Vishal and Sunaina, it marks the 2nd collab between the actor’s after Samar.

Laththi has occupied around 350-400 screens in Tamil Nadu, reportedly. The film is titled Laatti in Telugu, it has been released in over 365+ theatres in Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana). Laatti occupied around 170 theatres in Andhra Pradesh, followed by Nizam over 125 theatres, and Ceeded 70 theatres.
Lathithi has opened with mixed responses from the critics, it received praise for the performance of Vishal and Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music and BGM while the movie faced criticism for the story and screenplay.

As per the trade reports, Laththi took a poor start in Tamil while registering a decent start in Telugu in terms of occupancy rates. The film registered 9.21% morning occupancy rates in Tamil and around 15% occupancy rates in Telugu. The film had an overall 12.40% Tamil occupancy and 15.46% Telugu occupancy.

As per the Telugu trade circle reports, Laatti theatrical rights have been sold at Rs 4 Cr in AP/TG. And it will have to recover 4.5 cr distributor’s shares in the state to emerge as a hit at the box office.
Laththi/laatti saw a slow start at the box office on Thursday. As per the trade estimations, Vishnu’s film accumulated 1.7 Cr nett on the first day. Laththi will have to show growth over Fri, Sat and Sun for a respectable weekend or it will meet the same fate as Vishnu’s last movie, Veerame Vaagai Soodum which was a commercial failure.
