The sports action film, “Liger” opened with negative reviews from the critics and saw the below par start at the box office, however, it became the highest grosser for a tier-2 actor in Telugu states.
It is directed and written by Puri Jagannadh, his puri connects produced the film with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. It stars Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday in the main lead roles.

Box Office Collection Day 2
Vijay-Ananya starrer has recovered only around 13.45 Cr shares worldwide on the first day, with the huge drop of 80% on Day 2, it needs a miraculous growth to rise from here as it still needs around Rs 72.54 crores to breakeven which seems impossible as the negative audience word of mouth has come into play on the first day itself.
From here, it needs a surprising growth in collections on Sat and Sun to be back on track. It was released in Hindi on Fri, and took a good start of Rs 4.5 crores, the total 2nd-day worldwide collection of Liger stands at Rs 32.80 crores at the box office.

Low Opening due to WOM
Liger had collected over 10 crores from the advances for the day 1 and it was expected that it will be translated into big box office numbers on Day 1. But contrary to this, the film took a below par start. It was opened with thunderous occupancy during the morning shows but with the negative reviews pouring in, it slowed down over the afternoon and evening shows. It had 45.10% overall occupancy in Telugu and 18.51% occupancy in Hindi.

Beats Puri’s ismart Shankar Record
As per the Telugu trade reports, Liger grossed Rs 15.40 crores including 43L Hires on Day 1 in AP-TG that is 9.57 Cr shares. Trade experts had estimated around 12 Cr shares but due to bad word of mouth, the film failed to gain momentum from the afternoon which resulted in below par start. However, despite negative reviews, it has become the highest opening day grosser for Tier-2 actor’s in Telugu states overtaking Puri’s 2019 ismart Shankar starring Ram Pothineni.
