Akshay Kumar’s historical film didn’t live up to the expectations on day 1, the film which saw the advance bookings of Rs 8 Cr coming in from ticket sales, had indicated a great start.
However, the film manages to become the 5th highest grosser Hindi film of the year, after KGF Chapter 2-Hindi (Rs 53.95 Cr), RRR-Hindi (Rs 20.07 Cr), Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (Rs 14.11 Cr), Bachchan Paandey (Rs 13.25 Cr).
Prithviraj is Akshay’s second film on the top-5 list, but we will hope that the film won’t see the end result like his last outing. Bachchan Paandey had opened with Rs 13.25 Cr healthy opening but went on to become a flop at the box office, the film saw very poor lifetime collections (Rs 49.98 Cr).
Box Office Collection Day 1 (Overseas)
If we compare the overseas collections of Prithviraj with Akshay’s earlier two outings Sooryavanshi and Bachchan Paandey, the film here also performed poorly.
Australia Box Office Day 1: While Bachchan Paandey had collected 27,944 dollars in just 55 screens, Sooryavanshi had seen the 99,264 dollars from 93 screens in Australia. As compared to both the films Prithviraj managed to churn out a very low 26,852 dollars (INR 20.8 L approx) from 78 screens on Day 1.
New Zealand Box Office Day 1: Prithviraj collected 7,774 dollars (Rs 6 L approx) from 23 screens on day 1 at the box office New Zealand, Akshay’s previous films Sooryavanshi and Bachchan Paandey had earned 15,037 dollars and 10,999 dollars respectively on Day 1.

Samrat Prithviraj Day 2 Box Office Collection
#SamratPrithviraj 's Day 2 All-India Early Estimates is ₹ 12.75 Crs Nett..
— Ramesh Bala (@rameshlaus) June 5, 2022
Akkis’ film despite immense promotion and tremendous hype, and double-digit figures through advance sales opened with very low collections on Day 1. Prithviraj managed to collect only Rs 10.7 Cr on Day 1 in India.
Had the film not been declared tax-free in three states, the collections would have been lower. Considering on a big scale budget the film has been made, it should have collected around Rs 15 to 20 Cr on an opening day.
Prithviraj sees growth of a minimal 17% as compared to Friday and collects Rs 12.70 Crs on Saturday, the growth is not on par with what trade experts have estimated.

However, it is expected that it will rake in more moolah on Sunday of the first weekend as the target audience (25 to 30 yrs) of the film is yet to arrive at the cinema halls, as per the trade experts.
