Mani Ratnam’s blockbuster Ponniyin Selvan-1 continues its dream run at the box office. The flick has recently crossed the $6M mark in the US and the latest we hear is that it has become an all-time top-grosser in TN and the 2nd highest-grosser Tamil movie of all time, worldwide.
It is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s novel of the same name, which has a cult fan following. The movie is split into two parts, the second part of Ponniyin Selvan is slated to be released in the summer 2022.

Becomes all-time top-grosser in TN
As per the Industry tracker, Ramesh Bala, Ponniyin Selvan: Part one has overtaken Vikram to become the all-time top grosser in Tamil Nadu. FYI, the Kamal Haasan starrer had grossed 191 crores in Tamil Nadu. Ramesh Bala informed the fans via Twitter, check it out below:

Not only this he also tweeted that PS1 is the first Tamil movie that has collected 50 crores from the USA (Single Territory alone).

PS1 Becomes Highest-Grosser Tamil Movie
As per the box office tracker T2BLive, it has grossed 421.80 crores in two weeks at the BO worldwide with 217.05 crore shares. The flick needs around 4.2 crores share more to beat Vikram’s lifetime box office biz which seems, it has gone past yesterday. However, an official confirmation is yet awaited for the same.
FYI, Vikram has grossed 426 crores in its run at the BO WW.
Box Office Collection Day 15
It recorded a growth in the advance bookings for Friday, PS1 clocked in Rs 1.5 crores from the ticket sales on Friday at the advance bookings. It raked in another 1.24 crores in Tamil.

Going by the early trade estimates, it sees another 2.8-3 crores coming in on Friday (Day 15) in Tn. It is estimated to rake in Rs 5 crores worldwide on Friday taking its total biz over 426 crores.
PS1 Box Office Hindi
Mani Ratnam’s film is stable in the Hindi market ever since its release. The Hindi version has emerged as the 2nd biggest contributor for PS-1, domestically. It drew in Rs 14.25 crores in the 1st week followed by 5.56 crores in Week 2. The 2-week collection of PS-1-Hindi stands at Rs 19.81 crores. As per the trade experts, it is expected to end its run with a 25-28 crores lifetime in Hindi.
