Mani Ratnam’s visual spectacle “Ponniyin Selvan: Part One” or “PS1” is not in the mood of slowing down at the box office. The movie already stands at the no. 3 position in the list of the highest-grossing Tamil movie ever and still churning out moolah day in, day out.
Ponniyin Selvan (Both Parts) is mounted on a huge budget of 500 crores and going by its performance at the box office, it is likely to recover the investment from the first part itself.

PS1 Crosses 350 crores Worldwide
The total 8-day collections of PS1 stand at Rs 340 crores+ worldwide. It has now gone past the 350 crores gross mark on Saturday (Day 9). As per the trade reports, the flick witnessed 35-40% growth in its earnings on Day 9 and collects around 22 crores gross on Sat to take the total collections over 362 crores.
Now, the next target for the film would be to cross 400 crores which it will fetch in its second week weekdays. And then head to breach past Vikram’s lifetime by the third weekend.
PS1 Eying 150 Cr in TN
The multi-starrer is inching closer to 150 crores gross in the home market, Tamil Nadu. The film touched the double-digit mark for the straight seven days and clocked in the vicinity of 127 crores gross in its first week there.
On day 8 (Fri), it saw the figures coming in below 10 crores minting over 8 crores for a total of 135.89 crores. And again touched the double-digit on Sat. It will cross the 150 crores gross mark on Sunday, in TN.
PS1 Box Office Hindi
Along with the original version, Ponniyin Selvan is doing very well in Telugu and Hindi versions. The flick has grossed around 16 crores in Telugu and over 14 crores nett in Hindi at the close of its first week.

Advance Bookings day 9
PS1 records growth in the advance sales for Saturday, it clocked in 6.94 crores in Tamil, followed by 38L in Hindi, 24L in Telugu, and 12L in Malayalam. It again touched the 4L mark in ticket sales after Day 6. It is expected to record growth on Sunday as well in terms of ticket sales.
