Box Office Collection Day 1
Akshay Kumar’s film doesn’t fare well in the advance bookings and depends largely on the walk-in audience which somehow arrives at the ticket counters. However, it opened with dismal numbers at the box office. Earlier it was expected to take a double-digit opening but the trade reports suggest that it sees a lower opening than Prithviraj and Rakshabandhan.
As per the early trade reports, Raksha Bandhan raked in only Rs 8 Cr on the first day, Mass belt was the top contributor while multiplex audiences rejected the film. It did good business in Delhi NCR and Gujarat.
Screen Counts & Budget
As per media reports, Akki’s film will release on 2500+ screens in India and around 1000 screens overseas making the total screen count to 3500+ screens worldwide. It is a moderate budget film made in Rs 65-70 Cr range.

Advance Bookings
Akki is not the advance bookings star like Aamir is, hence his films generally depend on the walk-in audience/spot bookings. This film as well fared low in the advances, however, it did beat Laal Singh Chaddha at the mass pockets in the bookings. But in the end, it is multiplex that contributes the most, so Laal Singh Chaddha taking a lead here. As per Sacnilk.com, Raksha Bandhan has sold 34,468 tickets worth Rs 84.75 Lakhs till Wednesday morning, for the first day.
