Actor Karthik Sivakumar, popularly known as Karthi, is ready for the release of his highly anticipated Tamil film, Sardar. Billed as an action spy thriller, the film is written and directed by P.S. Mithran.
The film stars Karthi in dual roles, whereas actresses Raashii Khanna and Rajisha Vijayan play the leading actresses. Karthi’s most recent outing was the highly anticipated Pan-India film Ponniyin Selvan:I, which has grossed Rs. 461 crore at the BO worldwide and has emerged as the highest grossing Tamil film of 2022.
The actor is currently basking in the success of PS:1 and is looking for another blockbuster in Sardar, which is creating much hype and is set to be released on October 21, 2022, a week prior to Diwali.
Budget
As per the sources, Sardar is actor Karthi’s biggest film in terms of budget (solo lead). Koimoi in June 2022 reported that Sardar cost the makers 4 crores to shoot in 2 places (Azerbaijan and Georgia).
It will have a simultaneous release in Telugu and Tamil on Oct 21. Karthi is playing a dual role in the movie and reportedly the actor will be seen in 15 different getups.
Sardar is recently certified ‘U/A’ by the censor board, it has 166mins (2hrs 46mins) duration and the first show will start at 8 AM (IST) on Oct 21.
Box-Office Prediction
Produced by S. Lakshman Kumar under the banner of Prince Picture, the film has music by G.V. Prakash Kumar. Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies is presenting this U/A censored film. As per the early buzz, the much-hyped espionage thriller film is expected to open to a great response.
With the presence of Karthi, the film already has an upper hand and fans who have appreciated his performance in PS:1 are ready to witness him on silver screens again. The makers will release it in a dubbed Telugu version along with the Tamil version. As per our speculation, it will gross Rs. 5-6 crore at BO on the opening day.
Advance Booking
The trade reports state that the film has made a collection of around over Rs 1 cr by the noon of October 20. The film is now one day away from having a theatrical release. The advance booking is expected to bring in over 1.3 Cr by Thursday night.

Star Cast
Karthi features in the dual roles in the film as Chandrabose (Sardar) and his son, Inspector Vijay Prakash. Raashii Khanna and Rajisha Vijayan are playing as Vijay Prakash’s love interest and mother, respectively.
Also, it marks the comeback of actress Laila in the movies, after a period of 16 long years, as a CBI Intelligence officer. The film also stars Bollywood actor Chunky Pandey, Murali Sharma, Myna Nandhini, Munishkanth, Sahana Vasudevan, Ilavarasu, and Yugi Sethu, among others.
