Since COVID-19 came to us in March 2020, this is the first time Hindi Cinema is witnessing the dream run at Box Office, leave the big-budget cop-action drama Sooryavanshi, we never expected that a small film like TKF will bring the days back.
Hate Story (2012) fame director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri picks those subjects which is very sensitive, a wide range of people raise the question on his latest release, some are calling it half-truth, some are calling it unbiased but the success at Box Office is real and massive.
Vivek Agnihotri’s this film was released on just 550 screens across the nation and on the same day rave reviews boosted the confidence of makers and distributors and film screen counts reached 630, then 1000 next day, screens increased day by day, and now the film is running successfully in 4000 screens at domestic only.
The film The Kashmir Files kind of success happens in decades, audiences mood their emotions play big roles in it. 70’s Mera Naam Joker and 90’s Andaz Apna Apna were disasters at their times but considered masterpieces later.
Another side Jai Santoshi Maa (1975) was also a small budget and no big star film at that time but its Box Office success was surprising like today’s The Kashmir Files, sometimes content and the story needed to be talked about matters.
The film reveals the story of the genocide that happened in 1990 in Kashmir, we can’t talk about the real or fake facts but we can say the story is must be talked about.
Here we are talking about ‘The Kashmir Files’ humongous Box Office success, which opens with ₹ 3.55 Cr and later broke the records of films like Bahubali 2 and Dangal in terms of weekdays performance.
After raking in Rs 12.40 Cr on the second Monday, Vivek’s TKF churned out a decent Rs 10.25 cr on Day 12 (Tuesday), On Wednesday the film saw a steady collection and minted Rs 10.03 Cr, showing a decline on Thursday, it earned Rs 7.20 Cr.
TKF’s downfall began with the Rajamouli much-hyped Tsunami RRR, TKF’s Friday collection drowned 37.50% compared to Thursday, it collected only Rs 4.50 Cr on Day15(Friday). However, the small film has already did the business of over 20 times its budget, which is breathtaking.
