Amitabh Bachchan-Anupam Kher starrer “Uunchai” is out in cinemas, the film is an adventure drama directed by the most renowned director of Hindi cinema Sooraj Barjatya and features a legendary star cast.
The film passed with a “U” certificate by the censor board and has a runtime of 2hr 49mins or 169 mins. Bollywood actress Parineeti Chopra will be seen acting alongside the veteran powerhouses like Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Danny Denzongpa, Neena Gupta and Nafisa Ali Sodhi.

Box Office Collection Day 1
As per the reports, Uunchai has surprised everyone, it has exceeded all expectations. The flick has recorded stupendous occupancy rates on its first day. As per the trade estimations, it collected around ₹ 2 Cr on day 1 which is similar to Katrina’s Phone Bhoot opening day earnings. The latter was released on almost double the screens than Uunchai.
Rajshri’s release strategy has made it clear that it is a WOM film and the positive audience word of mouth will only drive the biz of Uunchai.
Rajshri Production’s blockbuster films like Maine Pyar Kiya and Hum Aapke Hain Koun followed the same strategy. However, it is to be seen whether the production house succeeds this time or not. It is to be noted, 2022 has been the year of WOM films like The Kashmir Files, Karthieya2, Sita Ramam, Kantara, 777Charlie etc.
Uunchai Budget and Screen Counts
As per the reports, Uunchai has occupied 483 screens in India and 351 overseas. It has been released on 70 screens in Nepal for a total screen count of 904 screens. Yash Raj Films has bagged the theatrical rights to Uunchai for India and overseas. It is estimated to be made on a budget of 30-35 crores.
Sooraj Barjatya is also the producer of the film, it is made under the banner Raj Shri Films. According to reports, the makers are following the old Rajshri model of release. Firstly, the movie will be released on limited screens/shows, if the WOM spread and demand increases, the shows will also increase in days to come.

Uunchai marks the 60th film under Rajshri Productions, the latter has produced films likes of Vivah, Maine Pyar Kiya, Saransh, Nadiya Ke Paar, Akhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, Hum Saath Saath Hain, Vivah and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.
