Just a week is left for the most awaited ICC Men’s T-20 World Cup 2022 and the excitement level of the cricketing fans around the world, is on its peak.
This year marks the 8th edition of the International tournament and among the 7 tournament concluded so far, West Indies is the only team who won the trophy of ICC Men’s T-20 World Cup multiple times.
The inaugural 2007 T20 World Cup was won by India by defeating Pakistan, under the captaincy of Captain cool and former cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni whereas the 7th edition was won by Australia by defeating New Zealand.
Host
This year’s ICC T20 WC is hosted by 2021 champion Australia and the host cities are Adelaide, Brisbane, Geelong, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. The semi-finale would take place at the Sydney Cricket Ground and the Adelaide Oval, with the final taking place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
How Many Teams Will Participated ?
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will kickstart on October 16 (Sunday) and will be concluded on November 13, 2022. The qualifier rounds will be played first, however, there are 8 teams who have already qualified for the Super 12- India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Australia, England, New Zealand and South Africa.
England, Afghanistan, New Zealand and Australia are part of Group 1 and India, Pakistan, South Africa and Bangladesh are part for Group 2. Two more team will join each group after the qualifier round. The teams who will play qualifier rounds are- Sri Lanka, Namibia, UAE, Netherlands, Zimbabwe, Ireland, Scotland and West Indies, out of which four team will join the Super 12.

India’s frontier pacer Jasprit Bumrah is ruled out from the tournament’s following an injury ahead of the first T20 against South Africa. It comes as the major setback for team India and a news of shock for all Indian cricket lovers.
