There was a time when Salman Khan was struggling at the box office. Most of his films were falling flat. However, the release of Wanted, released on Eid 2009, changed his fortunes. Since then there is no looking back for him. Eid has become Salman’s favorite release date in the last 10 years. Wanted (Eid 2009)
Directed by Prabhu Deva, Wanted was a surprise hit at the box office. Wanted came as a surprise hit as the expectations from the film were low. However, with its release, Salman saw a change of fortune and since then there is no looking back.
Dabangg (Eid 2010)
Chulbul Pandey, a desi cop won hearts and becomes one of the best characters of Salman Khan’s career. The movie was a blockbuster at the box office with a lifetime collection of 138.8 crores.
Released on Eid 2011, Bodyguard was a blockbuster at the box office with a lifetime collection of 148.86 crores. It starred Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor in the lead roles.
Ek Tha Tiger (2012)
Released on Eid 2012, Ek Tha Tiger set the box office and earned 32.3 crores on its opening day. It was the highest opening day grosser of that time. With the lifetime collection of 198 crores, ETT was a huge hit at the box office.
Released on Eid 2014, Kick was Salman Khan’s first 200 crore grosser. It earned 233.7 crores at the domestic box office.
Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015)
Bajrangi Bhaijaan is one of the best movies of Salman’s career. Directed by Kabir Khan, this emotional drama film is among the most loved movies of Bollywood. Released on Eid 2016, Bajrangi Bhaijaan earned 320+ crores at the Indian box office.
Another Eid blockbuster for Salman Khan. Salman Khan as a desi wrestler won hearts and the movie emerged as one of his biggest hits with a lifetime collection of 300.5 crores.
Salman’s last two Eid releases, Tubelight (2017) and Race 3 (2018) were not able to perform as per expectations. While Tubelight earned 121 crores, Race 3 manages to collect 169 crores.
All eyes are now on Bharat slated for release on 5 June 2019. It has created good pre-release buzz and is expected to open big at the box office.
