DTU Delhi : Delhi Technological University, or DTU, is a state university located in Rohini, Delhi, India. The college was started in 1941 as Delhi Polytechnic College by the central government and changed to the Delhi College of Engineering (DCE). The college finally got the status of a university in 2009, changing its name to Delhi Technological University.

The institute consists of 17 academic departments that provide courses at the UG, PG, and Ph.D. levels. The university has also established the University School of Management and Entrepreneurship (USME). UGC has approved the university, and NAAC has accredited it with an “A” grade. NIRF has ranked DTU 29th for engineering in 2023.

The flagship course of DTU is the B.Tech. DTU accepts national or state-level exams and scores in the 12th grade for admission in various courses. The highest package offered in the placement drive of 2022 was INR 1.8 CPA.

The institute offers over 80 undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral courses in the fields of Engineering, Design, Science, and Management. The institute provides 15 specialisations in B.Tech., 25 in M.Tech., and 4 in M.Sc. Admission is based on the scores of entrance exams and direct admission to students from abroad (DASA) for B.Tech. courses. The university also provides admission based on the scores of the 12th standard.

Entrance Exam

DTU admits students to courses like B.Tech., B.Des., M.Tech., M.Sc., and M.A. through various national-level entrance exams and, for some courses, direct admission based on the 12th standard score. Below is the list of courses and entrance exams that DTU accepts:

• B.E./B.Tech – JEE Mains + JAC Delhi/DASA UG.
• B.Des – UCEED

Cut-off

The university accepts final admission through Joint Admission Counselling (JAC) Delhi on the basis of the JEE Mains score. The university also releases a merit list and cutoff for other courses on its official website. The cutoff will depend on factors like the rank of the student, the availability of seats, the number of applicants for the course, etc. A student must have a percentage set as eligibility criteria by the college in the 12th grade, equivalent exam, or UG exam.

DTU Delhi Ranking & Accreditation

The university is one of the oldest engineering colleges in India. DTU is accredited with an ‘A’ grade by NAAC and is approved by AICTE and UGC. It is ranked 29th for engineering and 40th in the university category by NIRF 2023 in India. The QS World University Rankings have ranked the university 601-650 in Asia and 160th in Southern Asia in 2023. Times Higher Education has ranked DTU 601–800 under the world university ranking and 170th in Asia. The IIRF has ranked the university 20–193 for engineering and 24–30 for architecture in India in 2023.

DTU Delhi Infrastructure

The university has two campuses: the main campus, Delhi Technology University, of 164 acres, and a campus in East Delhi University School of Management and Entrepreneurship (USME), covering an area of 2.06 acres. The main campus is located at Bawana Rd., Shahbad Daulatpur Village, Rohini, New Delhi. The nearest Airport to DTU is Wudalianchi Dedu Airport, and the nearest Railway Station is Badli Railway Station, 3.4km away from the university.

The campus has state-of-the-art infrastructure with infrastructural and basic amenities. The infrastructure has a library, a computer centre, dedicated labs, an auditorium, two open-air theatres, a hostel for married couples, and residential facilities for faculty and staff. The campus also provides a sports complex with a gym and courts for outdoor and indoor sports facilities.

How to Apply for DTU Delhi 2023?

Admission to B.Tech courses at DTU is done through JAC counselling based on JEE Mains results. So, candidates must clear the JEE Mains exam with a good score to increase their chances of admission to the university. Below are the steps to apply for the B.Tech. course at DTU:

• You can apply for counselling through the JAC Delhi website, i.e., jacdelhi.nic.in.
• You have to use the JEE Main application number and password to log into the JAC Delhi portal.
• Fill out the application form online and upload the necessary documents.
• Pay the application fee after submitting the application form.
• Login for the next step and fill in DTU Delhi as your preferred college and course.
• If you have the required score for DTU, you will be issued the seat allotment letter.
• Now you have to pay the fees to confirm your seat and freeze the allotted seat.
• You have to visit the reporting centre for document verification.
• You are to report to DTU for the final admission.

Application Fees

A student has to pay the application fees online for registration at the university. This registration fee is non-refundable and is the same for all categories. The application fees is to paid through a credit card, debit card, or net banking.

DTU Delhi Scholarship 2023   

 The scholarships of the university are designed for meritorious students. The scholarship is provided in the form of financial aid. These scholarship programs generally include fee waivers, fee concessions, or pocket allowances provided to a student belonging to the economically weaker section. The scholarship programs at DTU are as follows: 

• Fee Concession: for students whose family income is less than INR 4,50,000 per annum.
• Scholarships for SC, ST, OBC, and minority students on the national scholarship portal.
• Merit Scholarships for candidates belonging to the SC/ST/OBC/Minority category.
• A post-matric scheme for SC candidates 
• State and central government scholarships  

DTU Delhi Placement 

The campus placement report for 2023 is not yet available. The 2022 placement drive recorded the participation of 403 companies, offering 2459 placements. The highest international package offered during the drive was INR 1.8 CPA, and the domestic package was INR 64.23 LPA. There has been an increase of 43% in the total offers since 2021. The average package for a B.Tech. course was 24 LPA, and for an MBA course, it stood at INR 9.24 LPA.

Job offers included 14 international offers above INR 1 CPA and 413 offers above INR 20 LPA. The internship stipend offered during DTU internships in 2022 was between INR 2 lakh and INR 45,400. The recruiters for the year 2022 included Samsung, Rakuten, Jio, Airbus, Tech Mahindra, Instabase, Atlassian, Sprinklr, Amazon, Alphonso, Salesforce, Microsoft, Adobe, etc.
