IIT Mandi: The Indian Institute of Technology, Mandi, was established in 2009 in Himachal Pradesh as a public technical institute. It is one of the new second-generation IITs and the first of all the new IITs to completely shift B.Tech. students to its permanent campus in Kamand, Mandi, in 2015. The institute is given the status of an Institute of National Importance by the MHRD.

The institute consists of nine schools providing courses at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels in the fields of Engineering, science, and the humanities. IIT Mandi is an autonomous institute, and its courses are recognised by UGC and AICTE.

The flagship course at the Indian Institute of Technology, Mandi is B.Tech. NIRF has ranked the institute 33rd for engineering in 2023. Admission is based on the entrance exam conducted at the national level. The highest package so far has been recorded at INR 60 LPA for the year 2023.

Entrance Exam

IIT Mandi accepts scores or ranks in national-level entrance exams and personal interviews for M.A. and Ph.D. courses. Given below are the names of the courses offered by the institute, along with the entrance exam you need to qualify for: 

• B.E./B.Tech: JEE Mains + JEE Advanced + JOSAA Counseling.
• M.E./M.Tech: GATE + COAP Counseling. 
• M.A: Entrance Test + Personal Interview. 
• M.Sc: IIT-JAM + CCMN Counseling/GATE/GMAT.
• PhD: GATE/ CSIR- NET JRF/UGC-NET/ Written Test + Personal Interview.

Cut-off 

JoSAA is the body responsible for admission to IIT for B.Tech. courses. It releases the cutoff during JoSAA counselling based on the ranks in JEE Advanced. Similarly, cutoffs for M.Sc. and M.Tech. are allocated during CCMN and COAP conferences. 

The cutoff is determined based on the rank of the student, the number of applicants for the particular course, the availability of seats, the difficulty level of the paper, etc. A candidate is also required to hold a minimum percentage in the 12th or equivalent exam or UG exam for admission to the institute. IIT Mandi Ranking

According to NIRF 2023, IIT Mandi is ranked 33rd for engineering and 73rd overall in India. The Times Higher Education has ranked it 1001–1200 for the World University Rankings 2023 globally and 301–350th for the Asia University Rankings 2022 in Asia. IIRF has ranked the institute 25th out of 192 colleges for engineering in India in 2023. The institute is approved and recognised by the UGC and AICTE.

IIT Mandi Infrastructure

The IIT Mandi campus is a serene beauty spread across an area of 538 acres. Surrounded by Himalayan mountains, the institute is located near the bank of a river. The campus is divided into two parts: the North campus and the South campus. The campus is 14 kilometres away from Mandi town. 

The institute has an Advanced Materials Research Centre with advanced research materials for researchers and scholars. The infrastructure at the institute is world-class, providing four virtual classrooms and a well-equipped cyber centre. The institute also has a medical clinic with doctors, nurses, and pharmacists to facilitate health at all times. How to Apply for IIT Mandi 2023?

Admission to the B.Tech. course at IIT Mandi is done through JOSAA. The process includes registering and qualifying for the JEE Mains and the JEE Advance. JoSAA counselling is conducted, and the cutoff is derived from the score or ranks of JEE Advance. Here are the steps you need to follow to apply for the B.Tech course of your choice at IIT Mandi: 

• After clearing the JEE Mains, register for JEE Advance.
• Appear and qualify JEE Advance with a high score, as it will increase your chances of selection in one of the IIT Mandi programmes. 
• Now you have to register for JOSAA counselling for seat allotment. 
• You can register using your JEE Mains application number and Main or Advanced password. 
• Check and update the details where necessary that you entered during JEE Main registration, and update your password. 
• Here, enter IIT Mandi as the college of your choice along with the course.
• The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will release cutoffs in different rounds during the counselling session. 
• If you have the required rank, you can apply to IIT Mandi. 
• The next step is document verification. 
• You will finally be allotted a seat after paying the admission fee for the course of your choice.

IIT Mandi Scholarship 2023

Scholarships are based on the needs of a student. The scholarship is an aid directed to meritorious students from economically weaker sections so that they can continue and excel in their studies without any worry. These scholarships are provided to freshmen or to students already pursuing UG, PG, or PhD courses and include benefits like a fee waiver or pocket allowance. The scholarships available for students are given below:

• Merit Cum Means Scholarship: for 25% of general, OBC, and SC/ST category students, It includes an exemption from tuition fees and INR 1000 per month given to the student. 
• HTRA scholarship for M.S., M.Tech., and Ph.D. students or scholars.
• Central Sector Scholarship for SC Students.
• National Fellowship and Scholarship for Higher Education for ST Students.

IIT Mandi Placement

The first Phase of campus placement 2023 at IIT Mandi has been completed. Over 140 national and international companies have registered, out of which 85 have participated in the placement drive. Students have received 90 international offers from companies like Amazon, Walmart, Oracal, Uber, etc.

The placement rate of the 2022 placement drive of the institute stood at 93%. Sprinklr, Microsoft, Adobe, Indeed, Uber, Goldman Sachs, Flipkart, Siemens, Samsung Research Institute Bangalore, Schrodinger, Zomato, Texas Instruments, ODE, Arista Networks, Accenture, Nucleus Software, etc. are some of the recruiters that visited the campus during the placement drive in 2023.
